Quick Read / Key Highlights

Two decades, global brands: Since 2004, Nidhi Raj has worked with Marriott, Hyatt, Kempinski, IHG, Renaissance, Sheraton and Shaza.

From housekeeping to leadership: She rose to Room Division Manager at Shaza Doha and played a key role in its pre-opening.

Recognised in the Gulf: Featured on the Women Power List of the Middle East in 2024, 2025 and 2026, and won Clean Middle East’s Best Housekeeper Award in 2024 and 2025.

Back to her roots: She founded Denirit Hospitality in Uttarakhand, including Denirit Laundry, with a focus on local jobs and women’s empowerment.

Breaking a mindset: Denirit trains women in laundry operations, a field where men have traditionally been more visible.

A Homecoming With a Purpose

For years, the story of Uttarakhand’s young talent has often been one of departure: leaving the hills for jobs in big cities. Hospitality veteran Nidhi Raj is trying to write a different story. After more than two decades with some of the world’s best-known hotel brands, she has returned to her home state to build Denirit Hospitality, a venture designed to create skilled careers for women close to home.

Built Step by Step

Nidhi began her career in 2004 in Housekeeping, a department she credits with teaching her discipline, attention to detail, teamwork and genuine care for guests. Over the years she worked with Marriott, Hyatt, Kempinski, IHG, Renaissance, Sheraton and Shaza, eventually becoming Room Division Manager at Shaza Doha, where she oversaw Front Office, Housekeeping, Spa and Security and contributed to the property’s pre-opening.

Her work earned recognition across the Gulf. She was featured on the Women Power List of the Middle East in 2024, 2025 and 2026, and received the Best Housekeeper Award from Clean Middle East in 2024 and 2025.

Denirit Laundry: Challenging a Gender Norm

Through Denirit Laundry, Nidhi is targeting a space where men have traditionally been more visible and women have had few chances to enter and grow. The initiative trains women in laundry operations, quality control and customer service, with wider plans spanning hospitality services, administration and customer care.

“I wanted to create something more than just a business,” she says. Her aim goes beyond jobs: she wants women to take responsibility, make decisions and move gradually into supervisory and managerial roles. “I always tell my team that your background should never determine how far you can go.”

Uttarakhand’s economy leans heavily on tourism and hospitality, yet structured employment in the hills remains limited, pushing many people to migrate. Nidhi’s model addresses both issues at once: it brings international service standards to a local business and gives women a reason to build careers without leaving their families.

“My dream is to create a workplace where women from the hills can see a future for themselves without believing that they must leave Uttarakhand to achieve their ambitions,” she explains. She also points to financial independence as a force that can strengthen not just individual women but their families and communities.

Nidhi says the most visible change among women who join Denirit is in confidence. Many arrive hesitant to speak up or take on extra responsibility. With training and encouragement, she has seen them begin asking questions, taking ownership and setting goals such as becoming supervisors.

A striking blend of personal faith and professional commitment marked actress Yami Gautam Dhar’s recent stop in Ayodhya. The visit formed part of the promotional journey for her upcoming film Nayi Naveli, scheduled for theatrical release on October 16 to coincide with the Dussehra festive occasion. In the city long associated with Lord Ram, she offered prayers at Ram Ki Paidi and Hanumangarhi, seeking blessings as the film approaches audiences.

Reports from the promotional activity noted that her traditional appearance in Ayodhya drew attention. The simple yet radiant look, paired with a confident demeanour, underscored the excitement surrounding the project. For an actress recognised for careful script choices and a natural performance style, the timing of the Ayodhya stop carried particular resonance. The film is described as a family entertainer that weaves the everyday imagination of Indian households with elements of fantasy, humour, action and adventure. Such a mix places it outside purely conventional drama or pure commercial fare, offering audiences a different cinematic world from some of her earlier work.

Direction comes from Balaji Mohan. The story has been penned by Himanshu Sharma and Divya Nidhi Sharma. Production is handled by Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma, pairing a director known for varied storytelling with producers experienced in mainstream Hindi cinema. The cast includes Adinath M. Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Meeta Vashisht and other actors in significant roles. Music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, whose work is expected to lend a distinctive flavour to the narrative’s blend of genres.

The decision to promote the film through a spiritual visit rather than only urban media interactions reflects a wider pattern in contemporary Hindi cinema, where personal and cultural touchpoints often form part of pre-release communication. Ayodhya’s landmarks—Ram Ki Paidi along the river and the Hanumangarhi temple complex—provided a setting that aligned with the film’s family-oriented and imaginative themes without requiring elaborate staging. Observers noted that the actress’s engagement appeared unforced, focused on prayer and the local atmosphere rather than staged spectacle.

With the release set for October 16, the Ayodhya chapter arrives at the final stretch of promotion. The film’s positioning as a family entertainer timed with Dussehra suggests an attempt to reach multi-generational audiences during a period of festive gathering. Whether the combination of fantasy, humour, action and adventure resonates will be tested in theatres, yet the promotional narrative has already linked the project to a moment of personal devotion in one of India’s most visited pilgrimage cities.

Yami Gautam Dhar has built a reputation for selecting roles that allow space for understated performance. Nayi Naveli is presented as an opportunity for her to inhabit a character and world distinct from previous outings. The Ayodhya visit, with its emphasis on seeking blessings at Ram Ki Paidi and Hanumangarhi, adds a layer of sincerity to that transition. As the film moves from promotional journeys into cinemas, the image of an actress pausing amid temple steps and river ghats remains one of the clearer public impressions of the campaign—an unhurried intersection of faith, simplicity and the practical demands of bringing a new story to audiences.
